Harris launches first ad in Louisiana's Fifth Congressional District Race
Republican State Representative Lance Harris, author of the nation’s first Blue Lives Matter Law, didn’t mince words in his first TV ad, “Never Kneel,” that launched on television and digital across Louisiana’s Fifth Congressional District earlier today.
“America is upside down,” Rep. Harris says in the ad. “Cities are burning, police attacked, ideas silenced, and history erased. It’s time for the adults in the room to stand up and say ‘enough.’ As your congressman, I’ll take that stand, and the only time I’ll kneel is before God.”
The 30-second ad highlights Harris’s record as an outsider and a small business owner that hasn’t spent his entire life or career in politics.
“Politics was never my goal in life, I’m a small businessman and a farmer,” Rep. Harris says in the ad. “But at 50 years old, the call came to serve and I answered it.”
Harris’ campaign has focused on a strong message of law and order, restoring sanity to Washington D.C., and electing someone who will fight for Louisiana’s Fifth District, one of the poorest in the nation.
“Too many of our elected leaders have remained silent while America is being turned upside down,” said Harris. “It’s not in my nature to remain quiet when bold conservative voices are needed. It’s time for the adults in the room to stand up. That’s exactly why I’m running.”

Rep. Lance Harris, the outgoing Louisiana House Republican Majority Leader, has represented District 25 in the Louisiana House of Representatives since 2012. He is currently running for Louisiana’s Fifth Congressional District in an open race for the seat being vacated by Rep. Ralph Abraham. In 2016, Rep. Harris authored the nation’s first “Blue Lives Matter” law, which extends protections for police, firefighters, and EMS personnel by ensuring that existing hate crime laws include first responders if they are targeted for their employment status. The language from his legislation has been replicated in states across the country since becoming law in 2016.
